The Dryrobe deconstruction you never knew you needed
The Goldie Lookin' Chain deliver once again.
They’ve been going since the 90s, Rhys putting out comedy rap mixes made with his mates from the makeshift studio in his parents’ basement. Greatest Hits (their seventh album, but the first out with a major label) came out in 2004, and against all the odds, the energy and the sharpshooting of Newport’s satirical hip hop outfit has never really wavered. One day a hilarious and barnstorming history of the band will be written, but for now just be happy that in twenty-five years the Goldie Lookin’ Chain have never not been funny.
This latest track is an homage to the Dryrobe phenomena that is currently sweeping the nation, a coat that ignores, class, race, gender, and taste.
Enjoy, and, don’t forget… Dryrobe, if you don’t like the look you’re a Dryrobaphobe.
