I first met Kathryn Tann at a book launch at the Roath pub in Cardiff (I think it may have actually been The Roath), as she was introduced to me as the new intern at Parthian (my publisher at the time). This was before lockdown, and we would meet again during one of the restriction eases, when she was assigned the job of strategising the marketing campaign for my latest book, How Love Actually Ruined Christmas. She had stuck around, moved seamlessly from the role of intern to the job of Minister for Getting Word Out. No small task for a Welsh publisher. She was full of ideas, tenacious, and she was marked out by that trait that I have to say is not found in everyone you meet in publishing: she loved books.
