One of the FAQs since my book came out is along the lines of, which writers became my new favourites? Research brought me to writers I had heard of but never read, as well as gave me a much deeper understanding of writers I knew to an extent. Bernice Rubens was undoubtedly a writer I knew slightly, and grew to admire greatly, and love considerably.

As a blue plaque was unveiled for her in her home in Roath in Cardiff on Friday, here’s a extract from Abandon All Hope where I writer about her.
